Hot Summer Days

Man, It's hot, in the 100's and we're all trying to stay as cool as possible as the pastures and yard dries into nothing. Hard to believe we had such a wet spring and July. Have to get up at the crack of dawn to get any yard mowing done without dehydrating too much. Have the pears, apples and most of the figs put up into preserves, so that is good progress. Don't know how much longer the figs will make but not much longer as dry as it is.

First Blog

This is the blog of Gold Rush Ranch owned and operated by John and Kathie Cox in Ward, Arkansas. We are in the process of starting our own ranch raising and training gaited horses. Right now we own a Paso Fino gelding Bo, a Tennuvian gelding Pepe Joe and a Rocky Mountain gelding High Lonesome. We are starting the Rocky Mountain's training so we will be posting photos for all to see. We also have 3 dogs: a German Shepherd JJ which stands for Janis Joplin cause she can sing, a Dutch Shepherd Eleanor Rigby and a wire coated Ibizan Hound Deano Martini. Then we have 5 cats: Bob, Monkey Boy, Meme, Sammy and a new kitty that doesn't have a name yet; it seems that the stray needing a home kitties know where to come. Next comes the chickens; Butter a Buff Orphington, Queenie a Black Australop, 2 Barred Rocks that don't have names yet and 5 babies that look like they are some sort of cross breeds that one of the barred rocks hatched out for us. I also like goldfish so I have a 30 gallon tank in the house and a huge tank outside that has goldrish in it also. Well that is the start of things I'll blog more later and try posting photos as well.
